In 1951 my parents and I had a holiday in Paris. This was four years after the Swiss vacation, and the aftereffects of WWII were beginning to fade. I was four years older and was able to make photo-excursions on the Metro and the ligne de Sceaux on my own. We did take bus tours en famille, and took the suburban train to Versailles.

These pictures show something of that holiday. Perhaps the most noticeable difference between then and now is the very sparse motor vehicle traffic! In particular, not many private cars appear in the photos.
